Personal Communications Service or PCS is the name for the 1900MHz radio band used for digital mobile phone services in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), GSM, and D-AMPS systems can be used on PCS frequencies. The FCC, as well as Industry Canada, set aside the frequency band of 1850-1990MHz for mobile phone use in 1994, as the original cellular phone band at 824-894MHz was becoming overcrowded. Dual-band GSM phones are capable of working in both the 850 and 1900MHz bands, although they are incompatible with 900 and 1800MHz European and Asian systems. However, GSM "world phones" (some of which are known as tri-band or quad-band phones, because they operate in three or four different frequency bands, respectively) offered by North American carriers support both European and domestic frequencies. Outside the USA, PCS is used to refer to GSM-1900. In Hong Kong, PCS is used to refer to GSM-1800.
Sprint was the first company to set up a PCS network, which was a GSM-1900 network in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area in the USA. Eventually however, Sprint converted that network to CDMA technology and sold the GSM infrastructure to Omnipoint, which later became part of T-Mobile USA. Nowadays, the PCS frequencies have been adopted for usage in most parts of the Americas.

Hinwick House, built in 1709-14 for Richard Orlebar, stands to the north of the hamlet of Hinwick, Bedfordshire, England, in its own park of about 32acres (130,000m2) on the west side of the road from Podington and to the south off the Wollaston Road from which the house is approached along a drive. At the end of which are wrought-iron gates with stone piers surmounted by collared eagles' heads with wings displayed, the crest of the Orlebar family in whose property the house remains.
The house has three storeys, with the entrance front facing the east. At the back is a smaller house known as the Turret. This is the oldest block in the group of buildings, and probably dates from the 17th century. It was a low T-shaped building, two storeys high, with dormers in the roof. It is built of stone and roofed with Collyweston stone slate, but at the time of the erection of the main house a small square addition surmounted by an hexagonal turret was made on the east side. On the east front the tower is open to the height of the floor of the top storey, and inside it is curved in plan with a double staircase leading up out of the garden to the first floor.
The larger house is three storeys high with a flat roof. In the centre of the east front, entered directly from the garden, is the hall, elaborately panelled, behind which is the inner hall. Out of the inner hall rises the staircase, a fine piece of 18th-century joinery work, with delicately turned balusters and moulded hand-rail. On the north is the dining-room and on the south is the drawing-room. Several of the bedrooms are panelled. The entrance or east front is divided into three bays by four Corinthian pilasters, over which the cornice breaks, while from the cornice are carried up to the top of the balustrade, immediately over these pilasters, smaller ones of the Doric order. The level of the first floor is masked by a projecting string. At the sides of the entrance doorway are panelled pilasters with carved brackets supporting a cornice, above which is a cartouche carved with the arms of Orlebar impaling Astrey set within a broken pediment.
At the west angle of the south front is a Corinthian pilaster corresponding to the south angle pilaster to the front fa?ade, while above the cornices is a triangular pediment, the tympanum of which is carved with a scene representing Diana hunting by John Hunt of Northampton who has also been credited with the design of the house. The interest of the west front is enhanced by the projecting wings on the north and south. The Victorian north wing of the house was built in 1859-66 by F. C Penrose in the Georgian style.

The Altair 8800 computer kit (January 1975)
Popular Electronics was a magazine started by Ziff-Davis Publishing in October 1954 for hobbyist and experimenters in electronics. It soon became the "World's Largest-Selling Electronics Magazine". The circulation was 240,151 in April 1957 and 400,000 by 1963. Ziff-Davis published Popular Electronics until April 1985. Gernsback Publications acquired the title in 1988 and renamed their Hands-On Electronics. That version of Popular Electronics was published until December 1999.
A cover story on Popular Electronics could launch a new product or company. The most famous issue, January 1975, had the Altair 8800 computer on the cover and this ignited the home computer revolution. Paul Allen showed that issue to Bill Gates. They wrote a BASIC interpreter for the Altair computer and started Microsoft.

How it started

The cover of the premiere issue of Popular Electronics magazine
Radio & Television News was a magazine for professionals and the editors wanted to create a magazine just for hobbyist. Ziff-Davis had started Popular Aviation in 1927 and Popular Photography in 1934 but found that Gernsback Publications had the trademark on Popular Electronics. It was a used in Radio-Craft from 1943 until 1948. Ziff-Davis bought the trademark and started Popular Electronics with the October 1954 issue.
Many of the editors and authors worked for both Ziff-Davis magazines. Initially Oliver Read was the editor of both Radio & Television News and Popular Electronics. Read was promoted to Publisher in June 1956. Oliver Perry Ferrell took over as editor of Popular Electronics and William A. Stocklin became editor of Radio & Television News. In Radio & TV News John T. Frye wrote a column on a fictional repair shop where the proprietor, Mac, would interact with other technicians and customers. The reader would learn repair techniques for servicing radios and TVs. In Popular Electronics his column was about two high school boys, Carl and Jerry. Each month the boys would have an adventure that would teach the reader about electronics.
By 1954 building audio and radio kits was a growing pastime. Heathkit and many others offered kits that included all of the parts with detailed instructions. The premier cover shows the assembly of a Heathkit A-7B audio amplifier. Popular Electronics would offer projects that were built from scratch; that is, the individual parts were purchased at a local electronics store or by mail order. The early issues often showed these as father and son projects.
Most of the early project used vacuum tubes; transistors had just become available to hobbyist. The Raytheon CK722 transistor was $3.50 in the December 1954 issue while a 12AX7 dual triode tube was only $0.61. Lou Garner wrote the feature story for the first issue, a battery powered tube radio that could be used on a bicycle. Later he was given a column called Transistor Topics (June 1956). Transistors soon cost less than a dollar and transistor project became common in every issue of Popular Electronics. The column was renamed to Solid State in 1965 and ran under his byline until December 1978.
Typical 1962 issue
The July 1962 issue had 112 pages, the editor was Olivier P. Ferrell and the monthly circulation was 400,000. The magazine had a full page of electronics news that was called "POP'tronics News Scope." In January 2000 a successor magazine was renamed Poptronics. In the 1960s Fawcett Publications had a competing magazine, Electronics Illustrated.
The cover showed a 15 inch (38 cm) black and white TV kit by Conar that cost $135. The feature construction story was a "Radiation Fallout Monitor" for "keeping track of the radiation level in your neighborhood." (The Cuban Missile Crisis was that October.) Other construction projects included "The Fish Finder", an underwater temperature probe; the "Transistorized Tremolo" for an electric guitar; and a one tube VHF receiver to listen to aircraft.
There were regular columns for Citizens Band (CB), amateur radio and shortwave listening (SWL). These would show a reader with his radio equipment each month. (Almost all of the readers were male.) Lou Garner's Transistor Topics covers the new transistorized FM stereo receivers and several readers' circuits. John T. Frye's fictional characters, Carl and Jerry, use a PH meter to locate the source of pollution in a river.

The epithet pop-up is often applied to any three-dimensional or movable book, although properly the umbrella term movable book covers pop-ups, transformations, tunnel books, volvelles, flaps, pull-tabs, pop-outs, pull-downs, and more, each of which performs in a different manner. Also included, because they employ the same techniques, are three-dimensional greeting cards.

Pop-up types
Design and creation of such books is known as paper engineering, a term not to be confused with the term for the science of paper making. It is akin to origami in so far as the two arts both employ folded paper. However, origami tends to be focused on creating objects, whereas pop-ups tend to remain essentially pictorial and mechanical in nature. Some examples follow.
Transformations
Transformations show a scene made up of vertical slats. By pulling a tab on the side, the slats slide under and over one another to "transform" into a totally different scene. Ernest Nister, one of the early English children's book authors, often produced books solely of transformations. Many of these have been reproduced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.[citation needed]
Volvelles
Main article: Volvelle
Volvelles are paper constructions with rotating parts. An early example is the Astronomicum Caesareum, by Petrus Apianus, which was made for the Holy Roman Emperor Charles in 1540. The book is full of nested circular pieces revolving on grommets.
Tunnel books
Tunnel books (also called peepshow books) consist of a set of pages bound with two folded concertina strips on each side and viewed through a hole in the cover. Openings in each page allow the viewer to see through the entire book to the back, and images on each page work together to create a dimensional scene inside. This type of book dates from the mid-eighteenth century and was inspired by theatrical stage sets. Traditionally, these books were often created to commemorate special events or sold as souvenirs of tourist attractions. (The term "tunnel book" derives from the fact that many of these books were made to commemorate the building of the tunnel under the Thames River in London in the mid-1800s.) In the United States, tunnel books were made for such attractions as World Fairs and the New York Botanical Gardens.
Recently the tunnel book format has been resurrected by book artist Carol Barton and others as a sculptural book form. Artists are interested not only in the book's interior views, but also in treating the side accordions and covers as informational and visual surfaces.
History
The audience for early movable books was adults, not children. It is believed that the first use of movable mechanics appeared in a manuscript for an astrological book in 1306. The Catalan mystic and poet Ramon Llull, of Majorca, used a revolving disc or volvelle to illustrate his theories. Throughout the centuries volvelles have been used for such diverse purposes as teaching anatomy, making astronomical predictions, creating secret code, and telling fortunes. By 1564 another movable astrological book titled Cosmographia Petri Apiani had been published. In the following years, the medical profession made use of this format, illustrating anatomical books with layers and flaps showing the human body. The English landscape designer Capability Brown made use of flaps to illustrate "before and after" views of his designs.
While it can be documented that books with movable parts had been used for centuries, they were almost always used in scholarly works. It was not until the eighteenth century that these techniques were applied to books designed for entertainment, particularly for children.
Notable works
Some pop-up books receive attention as literary works for the degree of artistry or sophistication which they entail. One example is STAR WARS: A Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy, by Matthew Reinhart. This book received literary attention for its elaborate pop-ups, and the skill of its imagery, with the New York Times saying that "calling this sophisticated piece of engineering a 'pop-up book' is like calling the Great Wall of China a partition".

Faroese folk dance club with some members in national costumes
National costume, (also: national dress, regional costume, folk dress or traditional garment), expresses an identity through costume which usually relates to a geographic area or a period of time in history, but can also indicate social, marital and/or religious status. Such costumes often come in two forms: one for everyday occasions, the other for festivals and formal wear.
In United States usage the term "costume" is used in the sense of "fanciful dress", and so "national dress" is used to avoid this connotation.
Following the outbreak of romantic nationalism, the peasantry of Europe came to serve as models for all that appeared genuine and desirable. Their dress crystallised into so-called "typical" forms, and enthusiasts adopted it as part of their symbolism.
In areas where contemporary Western fashions have become usual, traditional garments are often worn in connection with special events and celebrations, particularly those connected with cultural traditions, heritage, or pride.
In modern times there are instances where traditional garments are required by law, as in Bhutan, where the traditional Tibetan-style clothing of gho and kera for men, kira and toego for women, must be worn by all citizens -- even those not of Tibetan heritage; or in Saudi Arabia, where women are required to wear the abaya in public.

The Tyszkiewicz Palace houses the museum

A mere on the grounds of the Amber Museum garden
The Palanga Amber Museum (Lithuanian: Palangos gintaro muziejus), near the Baltic Sea in Palanga, Lithuania, is a branch of the Lithuanian Art Museum. It is housed in the restored 19th-century Ti?kevi?iai Palace, Palanga and is surrounded by the Palanga Botanical Garden. The museum's collection of amber comprises about 28,000 pieces, of which about 15,000 contain inclusions of insects, spiders, or plants. About 4,500 pieces of amber are exhibited; many of these are items of artwork and jewelry.

History and background
The Baltic Sea coast has been a source of Eurasian amber trade since prehistoric times (see Amber Road). Neolithic artifacts made of amber were discovered in nearby Juodkrant? in the 19th century - these artifacts unfortunately disappeared during the 20th century. Lithuanian mythology, folklore, and art have long associations with amber; the legend of J?rat? and Kastytis imagines an undersea palace of amber under the Baltic, which was shattered by Perk?nas, the god of thunder. Its fragments were said to be the source of the amber that still washes up on the beaches nearby.
Amber workshops appeared in Palanga during the 17th century; guilds devoted to the material functioned in Brge, Leck, Danzig, and K?nigsberg. By the end of the 18th century Palanga was the center of the Russian Empire's amber industry. In the years preceding World War I about 2,000 kilograms of raw amber were processed in Palanga annually.
In 1897 Feliks Tyszkiewicz, a member of an old Ruthenian/Lithuanian noble family that had long had a presence in Palanga, built the Neo-Renaissance-style palace that now houses the museum. Designed by the German architect Franz Heinrich Schwechten, it fell into disrepair after the disruptions of World War I and World War II. The palace was restored in 1957 according to plans by the architect Alfredas Brusokas. It opened as an amber museum in 1963 as a branch of the Lithuanian Museum of Fine Arts, with a small collection of about 480 pieces; it received its millionth visitor on August 13, 1970. The palace was incorporated into the Lithuanian Art Museum during the 1990s, and continues to expand.
Exhibits

One of the largest amber pieces in Europe, the Amber Sun or Sun Stone, exhibited in the museum
The exhibition areas open to the public include 15 rooms covering about 750 square meters; a chapel connected to the palace houses temporary exhibitions. The museum is thematically divided into the scientific and cultural/artistic aspects of amber.
The first floor is dedicated to displays that illustrate the formation and composition of amber. Amber in the area arose from deltaic deposits of rivers flowing from Fennoscandia in the Eocene Period, about 40 to 45 million years ago. The processes via which resin is changed into amber by microorganisms, oxidation, and polymerization are illustrated. Samples of microdrops and microicicles (i.e. "amber within amber") are among the displayed items. The museum holds the third largest amber specimen in Europe, the "Sun Stone", weighing over 3.5 kilograms, which has been stolen twice. Amber from other areas of the world is also part of the collection.
The cultural and artistic exhibits include a 15th century ring, a 16th century cross, and amber jewelry from the past four centuries, as well as a number of rosaries, cigarette holders, and decorative boxes. The missing amber artifacts that were dated to the Neolithic era have been reconstructed by archeologists. Selections of modern amber work are part of the collection, including pieces by the Lithuanian artists Horstas Taleikis, Dionyzas Varkalis, Jonas Urbonas, and others.
Botanical garden

The Birut? Hill in spring, presumable burial place of Grand Duchess Birut?
The gardens surrounding the museum cover about 100 hectares. They were designed by the French landscape architect and botanist ouard Andr (18401911) and his son Rene Eduard Andre, assisted by the Belgian gardener Buyssen de Coulon. Local historians have estimated that they originally contained about 500 varieties of trees and shrubs, some brought from gardens in Berlin. About 250 imported and 370 native plant species are now represented at the park; 24 of these are included in Lithuania's 1992 list of endangered species. Pine and fir trees adapted to the sandy soil predominate.
The park features a rose garden, greenhouse, rotunda, a sculpture of Egl?, the Queen of Serpents, a Holocaust memorial, ponds, and gazebos; during the summer it hosts concerts and festivals. The .223 Remington is a sporting cartridge with almost the same external dimensions as the 5.56x45mm NATO military cartridge. It is loaded with a 0.224-inch (5.7mm) diameter, jacketed bullet, with weights ranging from 40 up to 90grains (5.8g), though the most common loading by far is 55grains (3.6g).
While the external case dimensions are very similar, the .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm differ in both maximum pressure and chamber shape. The maximum and mean pressures for some varieties of the 5.56 mm (different cartridge designations have different standards) exceed the SAAMI maximums for the .223 Remington, and the methods for measuring pressures differ between NATO and SAAMI. The 5.56 mm chamber specification has also changed over time since its adoption, as the current military loading (NATO SS-109 or US M855) uses longer, heavier bullets than the original loading did. This has resulted in a lengthening of the throat in the 5.56 mm chamber. Thus, while .223 Remington ammunition can be safely fired in a 5.56 mm chambered gun, firing 5.56 mm ammunition in a .223 Remington chamber may produce pressures in excess of even the 5.56 mm specifications due to the shorter throat.

History
The .223 Remington was developed as an enlarged and higher velocity version of the .222 Remington, which was introduced in 1950 as a varmint cartridge. The .223 Remington was developed specifically for the Armalite AR-15, a version of which later became the U.S. military's M16 rifle.
Cartridge dimensions
The .223 Remington has 1.87 ml (28.8 grains H2O) cartridge case capacity.
.223 Remington maximum C.I.P. cartridge dimensions. All sizes in millimeters (mm).
Americans would define the shoulder angle at alpha/2 = 23 degrees. The common rifling twist rate for this cartridge is 305 mm (1 in 12 in), 6 grooves, ? lands = 5.56 mm, ? grooves = 5.59 mm, land width = 1.88 mm and the primer type is small rifle.
According to the official C.I.P. (Commission Internationale Permanente Pour L'Epreuve Des Armes A Feu Portative) guidelines the .223 Remington case can handle up to 430 MPa (62,367 psi) piezo pressure. In C.I.P. regulated countries every rifle cartridge combo has to be proofed at 125% of this maximum C.I.P. pressure to certify for sale to consumers. This is equal to the NATO maximum service pressure guideline for the 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge.
The SAAMI pressure limit for the .223 Remington is set at 379.212 MPa (55,000 psi), piezo pressure.
Uses
The .223 Remington is one of the most common rifle cartridges in use in the United States, being widely used in two types of rifles: (1) varmint rifles, most of which are bolt action and commonly have 1-in-12 rifling twist suitable for bullets between 40 and 60grains (3.9g), and (2) semi-automatic rifles such as the AR-15 and the Ruger Mini-14, which are commonly found to have twist rates of 1-in-7, 1-in-12, or 1-in-9. (Most modern AR-15s use 1-in-9 which is suitable for bullets up to 75grains (4.9g) or 1-in-7 which is suitable for slightly heavier bullets, but older AR-15s used 1-in-12 twist rates, making them suitable for use with bullets of 55 grains.) The semi-automatic rifle category is often used by law enforcement, for home defense, and for varmint hunting (especially farm and ranch work, after which Ruger named a version of its Mini-14 the "Ranch...(and so on)

Early example of Lego Technic.
Technic is a line of Lego interconnecting plastic rods and parts. The purpose of this series is to create more advanced models with more complex movable parts, such as machines with wheels, in addition to the simpler brick-building properties of normal Lego. The concept was introduced as the Expert Builder series in America and as Technical Lego in the UK in 1977, and was renamed Technic in 1984.
Technic sets are often characterized by the presence of special pieces, such as gears, axles, pins, and beams. Some sets also come with pneumatic pieces or electric motors. In recent years, technic pieces have begun filtering down into other Lego sets as well, most notably the Bionicle sets (some of which were sold as part of the Technic line), as well as a great many others.
The style of Technic sets has been changing over time. Technic sets produced since the year 2000 use a different construction methodology, described as "studless construction" (Studs are the small circular knobs which appear on traditional Lego bricks). This method utilizes beams and pins rather than technic bricks.
Mindstorms, a Lego line of robotic products, also uses a large number of Technic pieces, although it is sold as a separate line of products. The next generation of the Mindstorms range, the Mindstorms NXT range (released August 2006), is based on the studless construction method.

"Studded" versus "Studless"

A construction using the old pieces with studs.
Although studless beams have been present in Technic sets for many years, the change from primarily studded to primarily studless construction represented a major paradigm shift and has been quite controversial.
The primary advantage of studless construction is the addition of new construction methods that were previously unavailable. The new studless beams are exactly 1 unit in height, in contrast to studded beams, which are a non-integer multiple of one unit. It can be awkward to use studded beams in vertical structures because it is necessary to insert plates between the studded beams in order to get the holes to line up.

A vehicle using the new pieces without studs.
Studless beams allow greater flexibility when building in multiple dimensions, while remaining compatible with "classic" studded beams. Some builders also believe that models constructed with studless beams look nicer than their studded counterparts.
However, studless construction also introduces disadvantages. Studless construction is not immediately intuitive, requiring the builder to think five or six steps ahead. While studded construction follows the classic bottom-to-top building pattern, studless construction requires building inside-to-outside. There is also the issue of inertia: studded construction has been around for much longer, and has a much stronger tradition, than studless construction. It is also obviously easier to incorporate other lego bricks and plates into studded construction.
As of 2006, Lego has begun to re-incorporate studded bricks back into the Technic line, which can be seen in sets such as 8421, The Mobile Crane.
Lego Technic components
Lego Technic system expands on the normal Lego bricks with a whole range of new bricks that offer new functionality and building styles. The most significant change from normal Lego is that single-stud wide bricks ('beams') have circular holes through their vertical face, positioned in-between the studs. These holes can accommodate pins, which enable two beams to be held securely together, either side-by-side, or at an angle.
Motors
Lego Technic system has always included a variety of different electric motors. Broadly, these divide into those powered by batteries, held in a connected battery box, or by mains electricity, via a transformer. Battery-power is the most common.
Early motors were either 9 volt or 4.5 volt, and consisted of a large brick with a small protruding axle that would rotate when the motor was powered. The motor was not hugely geared-down, resulting in high-RPM, low-torque output.
Recent motors, contain a hole into which an axle should be inserted, enabling axles of different lengths to be used.
In late 2007, a new motor system was released called 'Power Functions'; it was included within the B8275 Motorized Bulldozer. It comprised a set of motors, two IR receivers, IR remote control and a battery box, thus resulting in a remote-control model. One IR receiver would connect to the battery box whilst the other receiver connected to the motor (up to two motors per receiver), thus remote-control was achieved.

Time of Arrival (ToA), also named Time of Flight (ToF), which both means the travel time of a radio signal from a single transmitter to a remote single receiver. By the relation between light speed in vacuum and the carrier frequency of a signal the time is a measure for the distance between transmitter and receiver. However, in some publications the fact is ignored, that this relation is well defined for vacuum, but is different for all other material when radio waves pass through.
Similar to the TDOA technique, this TOA or Time of arrival called technology only differs in the fact that it uses the absolute time of arrival at a certain base station rather than the measured time difference between departing from one and arriving at the other station. The distance can be directly calculated from the time of arrival as signals travel with a known velocity. Time of arrival data from two base stations will narrow a position to two circles and data from a third base station is required to resolve the precise position with the third circle when matching in a single point. There are many ToA-based localization systems, including GPS.
Ways of synchronization
As with TDOA, synchronization of the network base stations is important. This synchronization can be done in different ways:
With exact synchronous clock on both sides. Inaccuracy in the clock synchronization translates directly to an imprecise location.
With two signals which have different spreading speed. Distance to a lightning strike can be measured in this way (speed of light and sound velocity).
Via measurement to a third reference point.

The Grey Fairy Book
The Magician's Horse is a Greek fairy tale. Andrew Lang included it in The Grey Fairy Book.
Synopsis
A king's three sons went hunting, and the youngest got lost. He came to a great hall and ate there. Then he found an old man, who asked him who he was. He told how he had become lost and offered to enter his service. The old man set him to keep the stove lit, to fetch the firewood from the forest, and to take care of the black horse in the stables.
The man was a magician, and the fire was the source of his power, though he did not tell the prince.
One day, the prince nearly let the fire go out, and the old man stormed in. Frightened, the prince threw another log on it and nursed it back.
The horse told him to saddle and bridle it, to use an ointment that made his hair like gold, and to pile all the wood he could on the fire. This set the hall on fire. The horse then told him to take looking-glass, a brush and a riding-whip, and ride off on him. The magician chased on a roan horse, but the prince threw down the looking glass, the horse cut its feet on it, and the magician had to go back to put new shoes on him, but then he chased the prince again. The horse had the prince throw the brush on the ground. This produced a thick wood, and the magician had to go back and get an axe to cut through it, but then he chased the prince again. The prince threw down the whip; it became a river, and when the magician tried to cross it, it put out his magical fire and killed him.
The horse told the prince to strike the ground with a willow wand. A door opened, making a hall in which the horse stayed, but he sent the prince through the fields to take service with a king. He wore a scarf to hide his golden hair. He worked as a gardener and every day brought half his food to the horse.
One day, the horse told him that the king's three daughters would chose their husbands: a great company of lords would gather, and they would throw their diamond apples into the air. The man at whose feet the apple stopped would be the bridegroom. He should be in the garden, nearby, and the youngest's would roll to him; he should take it up at once.
He did. The scarf slipped a little, the princess saw his hair and fell in love at once, and the king, though reluctant, let them marry.
Soon after, the king had to go to war. He gave the prince a broken-down nag. The prince went to the black horse; it gave him arms and armor, and he rode it to battle and won the battle, but fled before he could be clearly seen. Twice more, he went to war, but the third time, he was wounded, and the king bound his wound with his own handkerchief. The princess his wife recognized it and revealed it to her father. There was great rejoicing, and the king gave him half his kingdom.
Variants on motifs
This particular type of tale is well known, being particularly found in Germany, Scandanvia, and the Baltic, but also throughout Europe, and appears in Asia down to Indonesia and also in Africa. Other tales like this include Little Johnny Sheep-Dung and The Gifts of the Magician. A less common variant, found only in Europe, opens with the hero rescuing a wild man, as in Iron John, Guerrino and the Savage Man, and The Hairy Man.
The motifs are found in many more tales. While getting a horse is a frequent quest object, it is usually the side effect of needing it for something else, as in The Death of Koschei the Deathless or The Nine Peahens and the Golden Apples. It is generally a gift of the donor, as in F?t-Frumos with the Golden Hair.
When the hero is working for the villain, the usual aid comes from a woman who is the heroine -- The Battle of the Birds, The White Dove, or The Master Maid -- and therefore does not end as this one does, with an additional adventure to gain a bride, as in The Hairy Man.
Compare Prince Ring.

Geography and geology
Billericay is a semi-rural town, with many green spaces, including Norsey Wood, Mill Meadows Nature Reserve, Queen's Park Country Park, Sun Corner, Lake Meadows and South Green amongst others. Billericay contains Billericay School and Mayflower High School. Billericay is within the London Basin and lies on a mixture of London Clay, Claygate Beds and Bagshot Beds. Near the high street, there is a change in soil type from sandy to clay, which gives rise to local underground springs.
History
One of the earliest records of human occupation of Billericay are the burial mounds, which still exist in Norsey Woods. This is evidence of occupation in the Bronze and Iron Ages. Evidence of Roman occupation has been found at a number of locations in the town and there may have been a small cavalry fort at Blunts Wall.
The Saxons did not settle in the centre of Billericay. They established themselves two miles south, at Great Burstead. In the late tenth century it was known as 'Burhstede.' Billericay was not mentioned in the Domesday Book, as it lay within Great Burstead. At this time the parish church for Billericay was at Great Burstead. In 1291 the name 'Byllyrica' is first recorded.
Middle Ages
In the 13th and 14th centuries some of the Canterbury Pilgrims journeyed via Billericay. It is probable that some pilgrims spent the night in Billericay before crossing the River Thames at Tilbury. This may account for why there were so many inns in the town.
Billericay's most notable historical episode was on the 28th June, 1381, when King Richard II's soldiers defeated Essex rebels at Billericay's Norsey Woods. About 500 rebels were killed in the battle which ended the Peasants' Revolt.
The Wycliffe preachers influenced the town. Four local people (Thomas Watts, Joan Hornes, Elizabeth Thackwell, and Margaret Ellis) were burnt at the stake. Two other residents (Joan Potter and James Harris) were tortured for their faith during the reign of Queen Mary.
The Pilgrim Fathers
A meeting of the Pilgrim Fathers prior to their sailing in the Mayflower is said to have taken place in Billericay, and much local nomenclature and historical imagery reflects this: Mayflower House, Morris Men, Taxis, School, Hall. Sunnymede School's houses were called Mayflower, Pilgrim, Chantry and Martin (after Christopher Martin, a Billericay merchant who travelled on the Mayflower as Ship's Governor).
Four people from Billericay were on board, including Christopher Martin. He and his wife, Marie, along with Solomon Prowe and John Langemore perished shortly after their arrival at Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
The unfortunate fate of the would be pioneers did not deter other inhabitants of Billericay from setting sail for the New World. The town of Billerica, Massachusetts was established in 1655 to commemorate the origins of some of the first settlers.
Georgian and Victorian era
In the Georgian period many excellent examples of the period's houses were built in Billericay. One of those remaining today is Burghsted Lodge in the High Street, which houses the library. The road from Billericay to Tilbury still had a reputation: with mention of "footpads" and highwaymen operating along the road where it passed through open country.
In the town, The Union Workhouse was built in 1840 to continue to implement the Poor Law. Parts of this building were later incorporated into what was St. Andrews Hospital. The railway arrived in Billericay in 1889, being on the Great Eastern Main Line between London and Southend-on-Sea.
The 20th Century
In 1916, during the First World War, one of the giant German Zeppelin...(and so on)

Plot
Slim (Bud Abbott) and Tubby (Lou Costello) are American cops in London studying police tactics. A newspaper reporter, Bruce Adams (Craig Stevens), gets into an altercation at Hyde Park that was instigated by Vicky Edwards (Helen Westcott), a suffragette. Bruce and Vicky wind up in jail, while Slim and Tubby are kicked off the police force. Dr. Henry Jekyll, Vicky's guardian, bails them out.
Jekyll has been conducting home experiments in which he injects a potion and transforms into Mr. Hyde, a monster who murders a fellow doctor when he scoffed at Jekyll's experiments. Jekyll has more thoughts of murder when he notices that Vicky and Bruce are mutually attracted. Tubby and Slim witness the doctor's shenanigans at a music hall, where they begin to chase him with Bruce at their side. Tubby traps Hyde in a wax museum, but by the time he brings the Inspector (Reginald Denny) and Slim to the scene, the monster has already reverted back to Dr. Jekyll. The "good' doctor then asks Slim and Tubby to escort him to his home, where Tubby drinks a potion that transforms him into a large mouse. Slim and Tubby bring news of Jekyll's activities to the Inspector, who refuses to believe them.
Vicky announces her engagement to Bruce and Mr. Hyde reemerges, this time with intent to murder Vicky. Bruce saves her, but Hyde escapes. Tubby accidentally falls onto a serum-filled syringe, transforming Tubby into a Hyde-like monster as well. Bruce chases after Hyde, while Slim pursues Tubby, each believing still that there is only a single monster. Bruce ends up back at Jekyll's home, where Hyde falls from an upstairs window to his death, revealing to everyone his true identity when he reverts to normal form. Slim then brings Tubby (still in monster form) to the Inspector. Before reverting to human form, Tubby bites the Inspector and a half-dozen officers, transforming them into monsters who begin to chase Slim and Tubby.
Production
Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was filmed between January 26 and February 20, 1953. This film received an "X" rating in England because of the scenes with Mr. Hyde.
Comparisons to other versions
Unlike in other screen versions of 'Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde', Jekyll is evil in his own right, instead of being a man split between good and evil personae. He has no qualms about transforming into Mr. Hyde to commit murder.
Cast
Bud Abbott as Slim
Lou Costello as Tubby
Boris Karloff as Dr. Henry Jekyll/Mr. Hyde
Craig Stevens as Bruce Adams
Helen Westcott as Vicky Edwards
Reginald Denny as Inspector
John Dierkes as Batley
DVD Release
This film has been released twice on DVD. The first time, on The Best of Abbott and Costello Volume Four, on October 4, 2005, and again on October 28, 2008 as part of Abbott and Costello: The Complete Universal Pictures Collection.

Hospitals in England
The Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is a medical institution specialising in the care of children. It was founded in London in 1852 as the Hospital for Sick Children, making it the first hospital providing in-patient beds specifically for children in the English-speaking world. Now an NHS hospital trust, GOSH still engages in pioneering work in children's medicine. It was the recipient of the rights to Peter Pan, or the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, given to the hospital by author J. M. Barrie, which have provided it with substantial financial support. The Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC) provides additional funding for the hospital's activities.

Activities
The hospital works with the UCL Institute for Child Health, its medical school, and is the largest centre for research into childhood illness outside the United States and Canada, and a major international trainer of doctors and nurses. It has the widest range of children's specialists of any UK hospital, and is the largest centre for children's heart or brain surgery, or children with cancer, in the UK. Recent high profile breakthroughs include successful gene therapy for immune diseases, following a decade of research.
In October 2008, the hospital was rated by the Healthcare Commission as "good" for quality of care (a reduction from "excellent" in 2007) and "good" for use of resources (an improvement from "fair" in 2007).
The Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is a member of the UCL Partners academic health science centre.
Redevelopment Plans
In 2002 Great Ormond Street commenced a redevelopment programme which is budgeted at ?343 million and the next phase of which is scheduled to be complete by 2012. The redevelopment is needed to expand capacity, deliver treatment in a more comfortable and modern way, and to reduce unnecessary inpatient admissions.
Great Ormond Street plans to be a foundation trust in the near future.
Peter Pan copyright
In 1929 the hospital was the recipient of playwright J. M. Barrie's copyright to the Peter Pan works, with the provision that the income from this source not be disclosed. This gave the institution control of the rights to these works, and entitled it to royalties from any performance or publication of the play and derivative works. The hospital's trustees commissioned a sequel, Peter Pan in Scarlet, which has been a critical success.
When the copyright originally expired in 1987, 50 years after Barrie's death, the UK government granted the hospital a perpetual right to collect royalties on the work (but not creative control). The UK copyright was subsequently revived in full under an EU directive in 1996 when the term was standardised throughout the European Union to author's life plus 70 years, thus expiring at the end of 2007. GOSH claims that the play itself (but not the novel) remains under copyright protection in the US until 2023 (based on the publication date of the stage play, 17 years after the novel), although this has been disputed by various parties, including The Walt Disney Company and Top Shelf Productions, both of which have published unauthorised derivative works in the United States.
Museum of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children
Great Ormond Street's museum and archive is open by appointment. It covers the history and personalities connected with the hospital since its inception in 1852. The Peter Pan Gallery houses editions of the book from all over the world, in many languages. The museum is a member of the London Museums of Health & Medicine.
Admission records from 1852 to 1914 have been made available online on the Small and Special website.

The physical training uniform is a military uniform used during calisthenics drills and, in some cases, very casual periods of time (off-duty time during Initial Entry Training in the Army, for example). The United States Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force require use of a physical training (PT) uniform during unit exercise (including formation runs, calisthenics, and conditioning exercises). Some units will purchase a unique t-shirt with the unit insignia and motto. For special events, this shirt is part of the uniform. Occasionally, exercise will be conducted in utility Battle Dress Uniforms, normally with the blouse removed and the undershirt exposed (also known as "boots and utes").

Music of Cameroon

I had find many products about Digital Air bed Number System. Digital Air bed Number System The concept of sleeping on air was first seen in hospitals. Patients who were bed-ridden for extended periods of time were able to rest more comfortably, with fewer pressure points and more even support, than on a regular coil spring hospital bed. Like all good ieads, air bed sleep eventually made its way into the consumer market, leading to the opportunity for the rest of us to utilize this exciting and revolutionary technology to acheive a better night's sleep. With an air bed mattress as the primary method of support, each sleeper can adjust his or her side of the bed to whatever firmness level is most comfortable. Try that with a coil spring mattress! And with air sleep, flipping your mattress is a chore of the past. Coil spring mattresses will take a body imppression in the coils if you do not regularly flip your mattress, leading to shorter mattress life. While the ticking and comfort materials in an airbed can take an impression just like any soft material, the air chambers will not, leading to years o

Beti
Cameroon is home to numerous distinct ethnic groups. The Beti, or Ewondo, are among the most numerous, and live in the area around Yaound and south into Equatorial Guinea. The Beti are best-known for bikutsi music, which has been popularized and become a rival for the more urban and accessible makossa of Douala. Bikutsi is characterized by an intense 6/8 rhythm, and is played at all sorts of Beti gatherings, including parties, funerals and weddings. The word bikutsi can be loosely translated as beating the ground continuously.
Beti gatherings fall into two major categories:
Ekang phase: the time when imaginary, mythological and spiritual issues are discussed
Bikutsi phase: when real-life issues are discussed
A double sided harp with calabash amplification called the mvet is used during these ceremonies, by Beti storytellers, who are viewed as using the mvet as an instrument of God to educate the people. The Ekang phase is intensely musical, and usually lasts all night. There are poetic recitations accompanied by clapping and dancing, with interludes for improvised and sometimes obscene performances on the balafon (a type of xylophone). These interludes signal the shift to the bikutsi phase, which is much less strictly structured than Ekang. During bikutsi, women dance and sing along with the balafon, and lyrics focus on real-life problems, as well as sexual fantasies. These female choruses are an integral part of bikutsi, and their intense dancing and screams are characteristic of the genre. Another type of ceremony is the mevungu, when women dance all night in order to abstain from sex during those hours for a period of nine days. The sso ritual is much-feared by Beti boys, as it involves a series of tests to mark a boy's passage into manhood.
Modern Cameroonian music

Bamileke drummers in Cameroon's West Province.
The earliest recorded music from Cameroon comes from the 1930s, when the most popular styles were imported pop music and French-style chanson. In Douala, the most-developed city in Cameroon, accordions and ambasse bey music were common, with performers like Lobe Lobe, Ebanda Manfred and Nelle Eyoum finding a local audience. Ekambi Brillant and the first major Cameroonian hit, "N'Gon Abo", set the stage for the development of makossa. Post-independence in 1960, a local variant on palm wine music called assiko was popular, especially Jean Bikoko and Dikoume Bernard.
The urbanization of Cameroon has had a major influence on the country's music. Migration to the city of Yaound, for example, was a major cause for the popularization of bikutsi music. During the 1950s, bars sprang up across the city to accommodate the influx of new inhabitants, and soon became a symbol for Cameroonian identity in the face of colonialism. Balafon orchestras, consisting of 3-5 balafons and various percussion instruments (including the balafon, which is both a harmonic and percussive instrument) became common in the bars. Some of these orchestras, such as Richard Band de Zoetele, became quite popular in spite of scorn from the European elite.
1950s and 60s
The middle of the 20th century saw the popularization of a native folk music called bikutsi. Bikutsi is based on a war rhythm played with various rattles and drums and xylophone. Sung by women, bikutsi featured sexually explicit lyrics and songs about everyday problems. In a popularized form, bikutsi gained mainstream success in...(and so on)

A rebate is an amount paid by way of reduction, return, or refund on what has already been paid or contributed. It is a type of sales promotion marketers use primarily as incentives or supplements to product sales. The mail-in rebate (MIR) is the most common. A MIR entitles the buyer to mail in a coupon, a receipt and barcode in order to receive a check for a particular amount, depending on the particular product, time, and often place of purchase. Rebates are offered by either the retailer or the manufacturer of the chosen product. Large stores often work in conjunction with manufacturers, usually requiring two or even three separate rebates for each item. Manufacturer rebates are sometimes valid only at a single store. Rebate forms and special receipts are sometimes printed by the cash register at time of purchase on a separate receipt or available online for download. In some cases, the rebate may be available immediately, in which case it is referred to as an instant rebate.

Uses
Rebates are heavily used for advertised sales in retail stores in the United States, such as Best Buy and Staples. However, Best Buy, in April 2005, announced that they would be eliminating all mail-in-rebates. In 1992, mail in rebates were not usual in the UK, the so called 'Hoover Free Flights' perhaps giving evidence of its pitfalls. Personal computer components and electronics seem to have a large portion of rebate sales. For example, an item might be advertised as "$39 after rebate" with the item costing $79 OTD (out-the-door) with a $40 rebate that the customer would need to redeem. The turnaround time is generally four to eight weeks, though some rebates note a period of eight to twelve weeks.
Rebate clearinghouses
Most rebates are handled under contract by rebate clearinghouses that specialize in processing rebates and contest applications. The source of their fees is not readily discernible with conflicting reports from different sides. Roger D. Andersen, former CEO of Young America, a rebate clearinghouse claims that "Young America receives the same fees whether a submission is valid or invalid," giving them no incentive to unfairly invalidate customer rebates. Young America is currently under investigation by the state of Massachusetts for keeping unclaimed rebate checks. . Frank Giordano, founder of TCA Fulfillment, claims "We get paid for every redemption request we enter in the system. If we don't put it in the system, we don't get paid." . TCA is also notable for a "Rebate Redemption Guide" that was sent to prospective clients touting the low redemption rates that they would have with TCA as their rebate fulfillment center, promising 20% less than their competitors.
Regulations and laws
In the United States, Connecticut state regulations section 42-110b-19(e) require retailers who advertise the net price of an item after rebate to pay consumers the amount of that rebate at time of purchase. Rhode Island has similar legislation (Gen. Laws 6-13.1-1). Otherwise, the after-rebate price cannot be advertised as the final price to be paid by the consumer. For example, retailers in Connecticut can only advertise "$40 with a $40 rebate," not "Free After Rebate," unless they give the rebate at the time of purchase, which would be an instant rebate.
Rationale

Rebate forms often ask for the same type of information-proof of purchase in the form of a receipt and/or UPC code and contact information of the purchaser.
Rebates have become very popular in retail sales. Retailers and manufacturers have many reasons to offer them:
Customers tend to notice price increases and react negatively. Rebates offer retailers the benefit of giving customers a temporary discount on an item, to stimulate sales, while allowing it to maintain its current price point. This method avoids the negative backlash that could be perceived with a price being lowered and then raised later.
Rebates also allow companies to "price protect" certain product lines by being selective in which models or brands to be discounted. This allows retailers and manufacturers to move some product at lower cost while maintaining prices of successful models. A straight price reduction on some models would have a domino effect on all products in a line.
During the turnaround time, the company can earn interest on the money.

Background
Along with Kraftwerk's first two albums, Ralf und Florian has, as of 2008, never been officially re-issued on compact disc. However, the album remains an influential and sought after work, and bootlegged CD's were widely distributed in the 1990s on the Germanofon label. The band has hinted that the album may finally see a re-mastered CD release after their Der Katalog box set.
As indicated by the title (and like their previous album), all the tracks were written, performed and produced by Ralf Hter and Florian Schneider, with the sessions engineered by the influential Konrad "Conny" Plank. The album has a fuller and more polished sound quality than previous efforts, and this is clearly due to the use of a number of commercial recording studios in addition to Kraftwerk's own yet-to-be-named Kling Klang. The colour photograph on the back of the cover gives a vivid impression of the bohemian state of Kraftwerk's own facilities at the time including egg-box trays pasted, nailed, or stuck on the walls for soundproofing.
The album is still almost entirely instrumental (some wordless yodelling appears in "Tanzmusik", and "Ananas Symphonie" features the band's first use of a machine voice created by an early prototype vocoder, a sound which would later become a Kraftwerk trademark). Instrumentation begins to show more obvious use of synthesizers (Minimoog and EMS AKS), however most melodic and harmonic keyboard parts are performed on Farfisa electronic piano/organ. Flute and guitar are still much in evidence. The band were still without a drummer, and several tracks, particularly "Tanzmusik", make use of a preset organ rhythm machine. "Kristallo" features a striking rhythmic electronic bassline (actually created on the EMS synthesizer with the aid of the vocoder), however in general the album is much gentler and less rhythmically precise than Kraftwerk's later electronic work.
The LP included a "musicomic" poster insert of cartoons by Emil Schult, who had been playing electric violin live with the band (although he does not feature on the album recordings). Schult remains a collaborator of Kraftwerk's to the present day. The cartoons illustrated each track on the album, as well as the city of Dseldorf, with the caption "In Dseldorf am Rhein, klingt es bald!", which translates literally in English as "In Dseldorf on the Rhine, it will sound soon" (perhaps the phrase "the sound gets around" captures the snappy feel of the maxim better). Also note that this is kind of a reference to Kraftwerk's Dseldorf based Kling Klang studio.
The album was a modest success in Germany. Drummer Wolfgang Fl was recruited to play with Ralf and Florian for a subsequent promotional TV appearance in Berlin, for the German WDR TV arts show Aspekte. He became a member of the group thereafter.
Note
^ This particular piece of equipment was sold at auction in July 2006 (Ebay Item 300001522431). According to the sales description, Kraftwerk's machine was he mother of all transistorized vocoders, an early 70s prototype custom-built for the German electronic duo.

The device was used for two studio productions, Ananas Symphonie (for synthetic vocals and the rhythm track created in conjunction with lapsteel guitar and rhythm machine) and Kristallo (with rhythm machine and EMS synthesizer). It was also later used to create the sound of the spoken intro for Autobahn. The vocoder contained 12 analysis and synthesis filter channels, 2 compressors for speech or carrier signal and excitation signal inputs, voiced /unvoiced detector and switch board for filter-matrix. It was conceived, built and constructed by electronics engineers P. Leunig (Dipl. Ing.) and K. Obermayer (Dipl. Ing.) from the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Braunschweig. Later, the well known German music studio engineering and supplier company R. Barth K.G. of Hamburg, Germany, boiled down...(and so on)

Significance
He was well tempered through traditional discipline but his contribution was his own ingenuity to expand the framework of traditionHe was instrumental for introducing and popularizing Kathakali, the illustrious dance drama of Kerala, lying in obscurity, to the outer world.
He is considered one of the epic personalities of Indian dancing in the twentieth century like Uday Shankar. He carved out a style of dancing fit for the modern day, classical in form but popular in appeal, through which the fame of Kathakali spread far and wide in the beginning of the 1930s.
He showed how Indian dancing could handle themes other than those from Hindu mythology. Indian classical dance is the language of humanity, the global language. He popularized it by choreographing dance and ballets having biblical social current and political themes.
He was trained in both southern (Kaplingadan) and northern (Kalluvazhi) style of Kathakali. He was invited for higher studies when poet Vallathol Narayana Menon started Kerala Kalamandalam at Mulamkunnathukavu in Thrissur in Kerala. He got rigorous training under giants of the fields like Guru Pattikantoti Rammunni Menon,Guru Kunchu Kurup and Guru Kavalappara Narayanan Nair. He studied Rasa Abhinaya under all time great Rasa Abhinaya guru Natyaacharya Padma Shree Mani Madhava Chakkiyar. Famous Kathakali artist Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair and dancer Ananda Shivaram were then students in the first batch of Kalamandalam.
He was dance partner to Ragini Devi- formerly Esther Luella Sherman - an American born dancer from Michigan. Guru Gopinath and Ragini Devi made their first stage performance in Mumbai in December 1932.
The success of this performance encouraged them for more stage shows and an all India tour, making performances and lecture- demonstrations on Indian classical dance. Kathakali and dancing were thus made popular, which was comprehensive to the layman and connoisseur alike.
When Rabindranath Tagore saw young Gopinath's performance in early thirties he wrote an appreciation on the dancer:
"Mr.Gopinath is a real artist and I am sure there are not many who could rightfully take their stand by his side either in India or abroad. He brought to my mind glimpses of the great past when dancing was one of the most treasured arts in India and not as today, a mere device of whetting up the jaded appetite of the idle rich. His presence in our midst was a great lesson and now that dancing is again coming into vogue amongst us, his style should give us a correct lead, for in want of it, we are yet groping in the dark."
He was awarded the Veera Srumkhala from, Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma the King of Travancore. The Guru Status was awarded later by Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA). The Rabindra Bharathi University honoured him with a doctorate. His statue was erected in Viswa Bharathi University. His illustrious demonsrarion of Nava Rasa(the nine emotions) is featured in major museums in U.S., France, Germany and Switzerland.
Kathakali style of dancing and training was a male monopoly. It was Guru Gopinath who experimented and proved that girls can perform Kathakali. He was appointed as the palace dancer and principal of the dance institution run by the royal family. The Natananiketan in Chennai and the Viswa Kala Kendra in Trivandrum the International Kathakali Centre in Delhi were institutions founded by him.
Malayalam film history has noted Guru Gopinath as one among the actors of the beginning years. He has acted in the movie Prahlada as Hiranyakasipu. This was the sixth Malayalam movie and the third movie having sound tracks.
He has made guest appearances as Jesus Christ in Jeevithanauka and Poothana in Bhakathakuchela.
Guru Gopinath was one such artist who could show the nuances of the nine emotions in Kathakali and he could show different emotions on each half of his face at the same time.
He died on stage, as he wished, with makeup, attire and anklets while enacting the role of King Dasaratha in his famous ballet Ramayana on 9 October 1987 at Fine Arts Hall Eranakulam.
Guru Gopinath has traveled and performed in many parts of the world. He made performances in USA, erstwhile USSR and Sri Lanka. He was a member of the first cultural...(and so on)

Polyvinyl chloride (P.V.C.) tiles are a commonly used floor finish. Due to the small size of the tiles, usually 150mm, 225mm and 305mm, any damage can soon be repaired by replacing individual tiles (as long as some spares are kept).
The tiles are made of a composite of PVC and fibre, producing a thin and fairly hard tile.
PVC tiles are prone to some issues. The glues used on self adhesive tiles sometimes give way, causing edges to lift and get broken by foot traffic. The surface wears, in time causing difficulty in cleaning, then loss of the coloured pattern layer. Finally a very smooth floor is required to lay them on, otherwise they gradually become cut by the foot pressure above and the shallow edges below.
The main advantages of PVC tiles are low cost, ease of replacing individual tiles, and the fact that the tiles can be laid with only brief periods available. In fact assorted 10 minute slots in otherwise busy days are enough to get a floor laid gradually, avoiding professional fitting costs or need to take a day off.

Basic components of a monochromatic XPS system.
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) is a quantitative spectroscopic technique that measures the elemental composition, empirical formula, chemical state and electronic state of the elements that exist within a material. XPS spectra are obtained by irradiating a material with a beam of aluminium or magnesium X-rays while simultaneously measuring the kinetic energy (KE) and number of electrons that escape from the top 1 to 10 nm of the material being analyzed. XPS requires ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions.
XPS is a surface chemical analysis technique that can be used to analyze the surface chemistry of a material in its "as received" state, or after some treatment such as: fracturing, cutting or scraping in air or UHV to expose the bulk chemistry, ion beam etching to clean off some of the surface contamination, exposure to heat to study the changes due to heating, exposure to reactive gases or solutions, exposure to ion beam implant, exposure to ultraviolet light, for example.
XPS is also known as ESCA, an abbreviation for Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis.
XPS detects all elements with an atomic number (Z) of 3 (lithium) and above. This limitation means that it cannot detect hydrogen (Z=1) or helium (Z=2).
Detection limits for most of the elements are in the parts per thousand range. Detections limits of parts per million (ppm) are possible, but require special conditions: concentration at top surface or very long collection time (overnight).
XPS is routinely used to analyze inorganic compounds, metal alloys, semiconductors, polymers, elements, catalysts, glasses, ceramics, paints, papers, inks, woods, plant parts, make-up, teeth, bones, medical implants, bio-materials, viscous oils, glues, ion modified materials and many others.

Wide Scan Survey Spectrum for all elements.

High Resolution Spectrum for Si(2p) signal.
XPS is used to measure:
elemental composition of the surface (110 nm usually)
empirical formula of pure materials
elements that contaminate a surface
chemical or electronic state of each element in the surface
uniformity of elemental composition across the top surface (aka, line profiling or mapping)
uniformity of elemental composition as a function of ion beam etching (aka, depth profiling)
XPS can be performed using either a commercially built XPS system, a privately built XPS system or a Synchrotron-based light source combined with a custom designed electron analyzer. Commercial XPS instruments in the year 2005 used either a highly focused 20 to 200 micrometer beam of monochromatic aluminium K-alpha X-rays or a broad 10-30 mm beam of non-monochromatic (polychromatic) magnesium X-rays. A few, special design XPS instruments can analyze volatile liquids or gases, materials at low or high temperatures or materials at roughly 1 torr vacuum, but there are relatively few of these types of XPS systems.
Because the energy of a particular X-ray wavelength equals a known quantity, we can determine the electron binding energy (BE) of each of the emitted electrons by using an equation that is based on the work of Ernest Rutherford (1914):
Ebinding = Ephoton - Ekinetic - ?
where Ebinding is the energy of the electron emitted from one electron configuration within the atom, Ephoton is the energy of the X-ray photons being used, Ekinetic is the kinetic energy of the emitted electron as measured by the instrument and ? is the work function of the spectrometer (not the material).

History of XPS
In 1887, Heinrich Rudolf Hertz discovered the photoelectric effect. Twenty years later, in 1907, P.D. Innes experimented with a R?ntgen tube, Helmholtz coils, a magnetic field hemisphere (electron energy analyzer) and photographic plates to record broad bands of emitted electrons as a function of velocity, in effect recording the first XPS spectrum. Other researchers, Moseley, Rawlinson and Robinson, independently performed various experiments trying to sort out the details in the broad bands. Due to the wars, research on XPS came to a halt. After WWII, Kai...(and so on)

Invention of bikini
Although Rrd was an engineer, he was running his mother's lingerie boutique near Les Folies Berges in Paris by 1946. Reard and Jacques Heim, his rival designers, were competing to produce the world's smallest swimsuit. Heim developed his swimsuit and called it the "atom" and advertised it as "the world's smallest bathing suit."
In 1946 Rrd introduced the bikini. His swimsuit was basically a bra top and two inverted triangles of cloth connected by string and it was significantly smaller. Made out of a scant 30 inches of fabric, he promoted his creation as "smaller than the world's smallest bathing suit." He called his creation the bikini, named after the Bikini Atoll. The idea struck him when he saw women rolling up their beachwear to get a better tan.
Rrd named the bikini after the Bikini Atoll, which was the site of a nuclear weapon test called Operation Crossroads on July 1, 1946 in the Pacific. During those days, words like "atomic" were beginning to be used by the media to describe something sensational and Rrd reasoned that the excitement the bikini would cause would equal that of the bomb.
Marketing of bikini
Rrd's showmanship outgunned the far more reserved Jacques Heim, and it was Rrd's bikini that shook the world at the Paris fashion show.
Rrd could not find a model who would dare to wear his design. He ended up hiring Micheline Bernardini, a nude dancer from the Casino de Paris as his model. That bikini, a string bikini with a g-string back made out of 30square inches (194cm2) of clothes with newspaper type printed across, was "officially" introduced on July 5, 1946 at a fashion event at Piscine Molitor, a popular public pool in Paris. The bikini was a hit, especially among men, and Bernardini received some 50,000 fan letters. Heim's design was the first worn on the beach, but the genre of clothing was given its name by Rrd. Reard's business soared, and in advertisements he kept the bikini mystique alive by declaring that a two-piece suit wasn't a genuine bikini "unless it could be pulled through a wedding ring."
Later life
Rrd moved with his wife to Lausanne from France in 1980. He died in 1984 at the age of 87.

Categories of Active Fire Protection
1. Fire suppression
Fire can be controlled or extinguished, either manually or automatically. Manual includes the use of a fire extinguisher or a Standpipe system. Automatic means can include a fire sprinkler system, a gaseous clean agent, or fire fighting foam system. Automatic suppression systems would usually be found in large commercial kitchens or other high-risk areas.
1.1 Sprinkler systems
Fire sprinkler systems are installed in high rise buildings, department stores, warehouses and other similar buildings. They are usually located at ceiling level and are supplied by a central system of water pumps and a reservoir. The sprinkler system operates usually when heat at the site of a fire causes a glass component in the sprinkler head to fail, thereby releasing the water from the sprinkler head. This means that only the sprinkler head at the fire location operate - not all the sprinklers on a floor or in a building. (This is a common misconception which stems from action movie scenes). Sprinkler systems help to reduce the growth of a fire. Sprinkler systems are evolving into water mist systems which give finer water droplets.
2. Fire detection
The fire is detected either by locating the smoke, flame or heat, and an alarm is sounded to enable emergency evacuation as well as to dispatch the local fire department. An introduction to fire detection and suppression can be found here. Where a detection system is activated, it can be programmed to carry out other actions. These include de-energising magnetic hold open devices on Fire doors and opening servo-actuated vents in stairways.
Construction and maintenance
All AFP systems are required to be installed and maintained in accordance with strict guidelines in order to maintain compliance with the local building code and the fire code. An example treatise on code compliance in Miami Dade County can be seen here. Code authorities can encourage compliance through open communications, such as an invitation for code questions or an invitation to participate or an explanation of the code development process
AFP works alongside modern architectural designs and construction materials and fire safety education to prevent, retard, and suppress structural fires.

A battle with pirates. (NES version shown)

Exploring the countryside near Lord British's castle. A town is nearby, along with various enemies. (NES version)
After Ultima II was set on Earth, the story of Exodus centers on a quest back in Sosaria, the world of Ultima I. The player's mission is to destroy the final remnant of the evil Mondain and Minax. Exodus features revolutionary graphics for its time, being the first computer RPG to display animated characters. Also, Exodus differs from previous games in that players now direct the actions of a party of several characters rather than just one. Players now battle groups of enemies on a separate battle screen, where the player has to understand fairly complex weapons and magic systems and employ rudimentary tactics in order to overcome each opponent, as opposed to the system in the previous two games, in which the player is simply depicted as trading blows with one opponent on the main map until either is defeated.
While previous Ultima games let the player explore wire-frame first-person dungeons in Ultima I (where they were randomly generated) and Ultima II (where they served no real purpose), Exodus' dungeons are solid-3D in appearance, integrated into the game's plot, and remain the same across multiple plays (therefore introducing the element of encouraging players to actually create their own maps for dungeons). In many other ways Exodus is more focused than the earlier parts; futuristic references are largely (though not completely) gone; and while the total area of maps in Ultima III is much smaller than in Ultima II, the large swathes filled only with useless landscape without any interesting features are gone. By denying the player the ability to see what's behind mountain peaks, forests, and walls, the maps can now contain many small surprises such as hidden treasure, secret paths and out-of-the-way informants. The look of the game is no longer based on certain characteristics of the Apple II hardware; it is rather a carefully designed screen layout.
The game is named for its chief villain, Exodus, a demonic creation of Minax and Mondain that the series later describes as neither human nor machine. At the beginning of the game, Exodus is terrorizing the land of Sosaria from his stronghold on the Isle of Fire (known as Fire Island in Ultima Online). The player character is summoned by Lord British to defeat Exodus and embarks on a quest that takes him to the lost land of Ambrosia, to the depths of the dungeons of Sosaria to receive powerful magical branding marks and to find the mysterious Time Lord, and finally to the Isle of Fire itself to confront Exodus in his lair. The game ends immediately upon Exodus' defeat; but unlike many games in the genre, Exodus cannot simply be killed in battle by a strong party of adventurers, but only through clever puzzle-solving and by paying attention to the many clues given throughout the game. At the end of the game, players were instructed to "REPORT THY VICTORY!" to Origin. Those who did so received a certificate of completion autographed by Richard Garriott. This was continued for later games in the series.
Although this is the last game in the series to take place in Old Sosaria, places in the game such as Ambrosia and the Isle of Fire make cameo appearances in later games, namely Ultima VII.
Exodus became a smash hit, and it is credited as a game that laid the foundation for the computer role-playing game genre, influencing games such as Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy.

Cabling
DS3 interconnect cables must be made with true 75 ohm cable and connectors. Cables or connectors which are 50 ohm or which significantly deviate from 75 ohms will result in reflections which will lower the performance of the connection, possibly to the point of it not working. Bellcore standard GR-139-CORE defines type 734 and 735 cables for this application. Due to losses, there are differing distance limitations for each type of cable. 734 has a larger center conductor and insulator for lower losses for a given distance. The BNC connectors are also very important as are the crimping and cable stripping tools used to install them. Trompeter, Cannon, Amphenol, Kings, Canare are some of the true 75 ohm connectors known to work. RG-6 cable will also work, though it does not meet telephony technical standards.
Usage
The level of transport or circuit is mostly used between telephony carriers, both wired and wireless.

Story
Tsubasa Oozora is known as the Soccer no Moshigo which translates as "heaven-sent child of soccer". At the beginning of the series, Tsubasa, a lonely but not embittered boy obsessed with soccer, is an elementary school student who has just moved to the city of Nankatsu with his mother. As revealed by his mother, Tsubasa was saved by his football in a truck accident when he was barely able to walk, Tsubasa had held the football in front of him which served as a cushion for most of the impact. The force of the bump blew him away, but he was able to right himself over again with the ball. Hence, Tsubasa Oozora's motto of "The ball is my friend". Because his former school did not have a football team, the Oozora family thus decided to move to Nankatsu, in order for Tsubasa to join Shutetsu elementaty school, which was the national soccer champion.
Immediately upon arrival, he sets out to explore the new city, and arrives at the local soccer field where the players of Nankatsu elementary school, led by Ryo Ishizaki, quarrel with those of Shutetsu elementary school over who gets to use the field. Impressed with Shutetsu's genius goalkeeper Genzo Wakabayashi, Tsubasa resolves to challenge him to a duel. This is the beginning of a lifetime friendship and rivalry between the two of them.
The duel is observed by Roberto Hongo, a former member of the Brazil national football team and a friend of Tsubasa's father's, who becomes his mentor. Joining Nankatsu school's soccer team, Tsubasa meets Taro Misaki with whom he forms such a perfect combination that the two of them come to be called "The Golden Duo", and chief supporter Sanae Nakasawa who soon develops a crush on him.
Chosen for the city's team in the National championship, Tsubasa and his friends face strong rivals such as Kojiro Hyuga, who will remain one of Tsubasa's strongest rivals in Japan, Ken Wakashimazu, Jun Misugi and Hikaru Matsuyama. Nankatsu triumphs in this championship and the three following in middle school. Tsubasa and many of his friends and rivals are also part of the team that wins the U-16 World Championships for Japan before Tsubasa, following his dream to become a pro in Brazil, leaves Japan, but he keeps coming back for the National team.
He later marries Sanae Nakazawa and moves to Barcelona with her when he joins FC Barcelona (FC Catalunya in the anime).
Family
Tsubasa's father, Koudai Oozora, works as a marine captain and is at sea most of the time, so he was brought up by his mother, Natsuko. However, he has a much younger brother, Daichi (who was seemingly born after he left Japan) This also explains his strong attachment to Roberto Hongo, whom he sees as an idol and most likely as a sort-of secondary father figure.
After the WYC, Tsubasa later marries his long time girlfriend and Nankatsu's team manager, Sanae Nakazawa, who is currently pregnant.
In the Millennium Dream (a special concerning the Olympic Games which is supposedly something Sanae dreamt), the Oozora-Nakasawa couple have two boys: Hayate and Daibu.

The controversial product range consists of three non-penetrative stimulators that are inspired by the body contours that glide smoothly against the skin. Their powerful motors are quiet and stimulate different pleasure points at varying intensities. The massagers are waterproof, and some models are also water tight for tub use. They are used wirelessly after fully recharging using a supplied charging base that uses the same magnetic recharging technology which is widely used by modern power toothbrushes.

Gregory, a teddy bear made by Russ Berrie and Co
Russ Berrie and Company, Inc. NYSE:RUS is a major manufacturer of teddy bears and other gift products, including stuffed animals, baby gifts, soft baby toys and development toys, as well as, pictures, candles, figurines and home fragrance products.
Founded in 1963 by the late Russell Berrie (1933 - 2002) in a rented garage in New Jersey, today the Company operates offices, showrooms, and distribution centers all over the world and trades on the NYSE under the symbol RUS.
One of Russ Berrie's most popular stuffed animals was the Russ Rutherford III stuffed monkey line. These monkeys were produced from the early 80's to early 90's and featured a monkey with a plastic face, feet, and hands.
A pivotal moment in Russ's history is the Troll doll. Troll mania became popular in the early 90's and doubled company sales. By 1992, the public lost interest in the homely troll dolls, which resulted in crippling losses of more than two million dollars. Although this was devastating to the company, it only made Berrie stronger and more determined to succeed. Today the company sells over 900 products.
In 2003, Russ Berrie had revenue of US$329.7 million and net profit of US$34.7 million. For the nine months ending September 30, 2004, net sales fell 18% to US$198.4 million. Net losses totaled $12.9 million compared to income of US$25.8 million for the first nine months of 2003. According to Reuters, revenues reflect weak customer acceptance of new product releases; net losses reflects an increases in selling and administrative expenses due to unfavorable exchange rate fluctuations.

History and culture
By the early 21st century, newspapers frequently attributed the origin of beer pong to Dartmouth College: "Legend has it that the game, which can be played with paddles..., started years ago at a Dartmouth College fraternity party."
The version of beer pong played at Dartmouth differs from that played at many U.S. colleges and universities. Other than at Dartmouth, a few schools in Pennsylvania and some in California, the phrase "beer pong" generally refers to the game of "Beirut" or "Lebanon," a popular drinking game in which players take turns throwing a ping pong ball by hand at an opponent's beer-filled cups located opposite. No paddles are involved, and the element of defense or any kind of back-and-forth volleying is absent. As it emerged at Dartmouth, however, pong is played with paddles and retains the basic service-volley-score form of table tennis.
Origins
In its general form, pong has been traced back to at least the 1950s as a casual attempt to combine the popular activities of drinking and ping pong. The game is said to have been started when a fraternity brother first put his beer on the table while playing ping pong or while watching others do so. Early pong had fewer cups and fewer rules, and was played by both men and women at parties, although it emerged before Dartmouth's coeducation. History professor Jere Daniell '55 stated that he played the game as a student, and Bob Shirley '57 stated that he began playing in 1956. (Shirley suggests that the game began when spectators rested their cups of beer on a table during a ping-pong game.) One of the earliest published photographs depicting a game of pong anywhere in the world appeared in Dartmouth's annual yearbook, the Aegis of 1968, on page 304. Pong spread through Dartmouth houses gradually, and some held onto prior games into the 1980s (four-square at Sigma Nu, for example).
Evolution
The game as it is played today probably did not evolve until the late 1970s and may be tied to the advent of cheap plastic cups. By 1976, students began publishing articles about the game. According to a 1999 New York Times article, pong "has been part of fraternity life for at least 40 years, as hallowed as rush or Winter Carnival". Other Ivy League newspapers have called Dartmouth "the spiritual home of beer pong", and characterized pong as "a way for Dartmouth frat boys to get drunk [that] has become what is arguably America's favorite drinking game".
Dartmouth Pong Today
An official 2004 survey provided these statistics:
About 60 percent of students had played pong at least once within the two weeks prior to the survey.
About 20 percent of students have never played pong.
The most popular cup formations are Shrub (33 percent) and Tree (31 percent), with Line/Death at 8 percent and Ship at 6 percent.
Tree requires the average player to consume 7.3 drinks, Shrub 5.7 drinks, Line/Death 5.2 drinks, and Ship 7.4 drinks.
Pong is played most in the houses of fraternities and various other college-affiliated societies, including sororities, co-ed undergraduate societies and some senior societies, as well as in off-campus residences. Most of these houses have two or more pong tables, often extensively painted with heraldic and other emblems and scenes and usually situated in the basement. Pong is also played outdoors during good weather. There is a strong link between pong and the Greek system, as fraternity basements are the most common "public" venue for pong playing. However, pong is a prevalent feature throughout Dartmouth undergraduate society and culture, and is often played among classmates, teammates, and club members. Pong tables are too large to fit in most dorm rooms, and such spaces are also subject to much greater college regulation of alcohol.
Pong enjoys a high standing among Dartmouth students. It is sometimes regarded as the predominant social practice on campus, and participation in pong arguably is more characteristic of Dartmouth students than participation in any similar activity characterizes students at any other American college. At least one member of Dartmouth's Board of Trustees (Stephen Smith) has stated his affection for pong and has derided perceived administrative concerns about water pong.[not in citation given]
Students regard pong not only as a drinking game...(and so on)

Rapala Original Floater in Clown Pattern
The Original Floater is a wobbler type of fishing lure, manufactured by Rapala. It is the first lure created by founder Lauri Rapala, in Finland in 1936. It was made of cork, and wrapped in tinfoil from cheese and chocolate, and covered in melted film negatives as a cheap alternative to lacquer.
Today, the original floater is made in seven different sizes and fourteen different colors. It can be found in many anglers' tackle boxes, and is the best-selling lure Rapala makes, and possibly best-selling in the world.
The lure, when retrieved, swims with an action that mimics that of a wounded baitfish. It was designed this way by Lauri Rapala, because of his observations as a boy and young man of the behaviors of minnows and fish in lakes near his home in Finland, where he noticed that in a school of minnows, an injured minnow swimming with an odd wobble made it the target of a larger fish looking for a meal.
After seeing this, he crafted this lure, with the help of some of his friends, originally to help him catch more fish without having to constantly rebait the thousands of hooks he had used to catch pike and perch. But his lures, being quite good at catching fish compared to conventional methods of the time, made its way around the world, increasing in popularity, so that the whole Rapala family had to help with creating these lures. Lauri's sons learned to make the lures, and became so skilled that one of his sons, Ensio, won a national craftsmanship award for his lure. The same son also invented a machine to help mass production of this lure.

The basilica was constructed between 1569 and 1679 enclosing the 9th century little church, the Porziuncola, the most sacred place for the Franciscans. It was here that the young Francis of Assisi understood his vocation and renounced the world in order to live in poverty among the poor and thus started the Franciscan movement.

History
After the death of Saint Francis in 1226, the friars built several small huts around the Porziuncola. In 1230 a refectory and some adjacent buildings were added. In the course of time little porticoes and accommodations for the friars were added around the Porziuncola. Some foundations of these were discovered during excavations under the floor of the present basilica between 1967 and 1969.
As vast numbers pilgrims came flocking to Assisi to receive the ardon of Assisi, the small space of the Porziuncola became completely inadequate to house all these pilgrims. The necessity grew to build a church incorporating the Porziuncola. The buildings around the shrine were taken down by order of Pope Pius V (1566-1572), except the Chapel of the Transito, the cell in which St. Francis had died. Construction of the basilica started on 25 March 1569.
This majestic church, the seventh largest Christian church, was designed in a bold Mannerist style prefiguring the Baroque by two famous architects, Galeazzo Alessi and Vignola. The work progressed slowly, due to constant lack of money, as the building was financed with donations. The noteworthy dome, resting on an octagonal drum with eight windows and cornices, was finished in 1667. Construction of the church was finally completed in 1679. In 1684 a bell tower was added. It was originally intended to have a twin tower, but the second was never built.
On 15 March 1832 the central nave, a part of a lateral aisle and the choir collapsed during a violent earthquake. The dome escaped destruction, but was left with a wide crack. The apse and the side chapels were left standing. Reconstruction of the basilica started in 1836 by the architect Luigi Poletti and it was finished in 1840. He remodeled the fa?ade in a neoclassical style. Between 1924 and 1930 this fa?ade was given back its original pre-Baroque style by Cesare Bazzani (Rome, 5 March1873 Rome, 30 March 1939). The gold-plated statue of the Madonna degli Angeli ("Madonna of the Angels") by the sculptor Colasanti, was put on top of the fa?ade in 1930.
On 11 April 1909, the church was raised by pope Pius X to the status of "patriarchal basilica and papal chapel"
Description

Nave with the Porziuncola.
The basilica has a rectangular ground plan, divided into a central nave and two lateral aisles, flanked by ten side chapels, with at the far end a transept, and a long choir in a semi-circular apse, protruding from the ground plan. The Porziuncola is situated directly under the dome. The church is 126 meters long, 65 meters large and the dome is 75 meters high.
The interior is simple and yet elegant, with only a few decorations, in stark contrast with the decorations of the side chapels. The nave and the aisles were rebuilt in neoclassical Doric style by Luigi Poletti. The apse holds the precious wooden choir, carved by Franciscan brothers starting in 1689, the papal cathedra (with bas-reliefs by E. Manfrini) and the papal altar. The Chapel of the Transito, the cell in which St. Francis died, is still preserved. It is situated under the bay of the choir, against the right columns of the dome.
The side chapels were decorated by great artists from several periods, including Antonio Circignani (all paintings in the Chapel of St Anne, 1602-1603), Francesco Appiani, (Chapels of St. Anthony and St. Peter in Chains, 17561760), Ventura Salimbeni (Chapel of the Removal of the Lord, 1602).

History
The Sub-Zero Freezer Company was founded in 1945, by Westye F. Bakke in Madison, Wisconsin. In 2000, they acquired the domestic appliance line of the Wolf Range Corporation, a California-based manufacturer of professional-style ranges, cooktops and grills for both home and commercial use.
Sub-Zero Inc. now sells the domestic line of ranges and ventilation equipment formerly made by Wolf Range Corporation under the brand name Wolf, while the original Wolf Range Corporation manufactures and sells cooking equipment solely for commercial use. The company's products compete with those made by Viking Range Corporation, Dacor, Thermador, GE Monogram, KitchenAid, Bosch and Miele.
Innovations
According to the official company history, Bakke invented the first free-standing freezer in 1943. They also claim to have been the first to manufacture built-in refrigerators, beginning in the 1950s, and consequently many people still associate the look with Sub-Zero[citation needed]. Sub-Zero claims to be the only company to employ dual-refrigeration technology, which ostensibly "keep[s] fresh food fresher and preserve[s] frozen food longer".
Appliance models
Sub-Zero manufactures two series of built-in refrigeration as well as wine storage and undercounter units. Each of the refrigerator models usually comes in three variations, namely stainless steel exterior in three finishes, or customizable exteriors in framed or overlay versions. The latter options allow the buyers to install kitchen cabinet panels on the door to match with the rest of the kitchen. Its refrigerators are designed with a 24" depth and can be installed flush with kitchen cabinets of the same standard depth to provide an integrated look. This kind of built-in refrigerator is usually wider than normal to compensate for the shallower depth in order to maintain acceptable storage volume.
The company currently has manufacturing locations in Madison, Wisconsin, Fitchburg, Wisconsin, and Phoenix, Arizona.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages are two action-adventure games developed by Flagship and published by Nintendo and the seventh and eighth installments in The Legend of Zelda video game series. They were released on February 27, 2001 in Japan, May 14, 2001 in North America, and October 5, 2001 in Europe for the Nintendo Game Boy Color. The game features a brighter color palette when played on a Nintendo Game Boy Advance in order to make up for the darkness of the screen, and a special shop is also made available.
After experimenting with porting the original The Legend of Zelda to the Game Boy Color, Yoshiki Okamoto's Flagship team began developing three interconnected Zelda games that could be played in any order. The complexity of this system led the team to cancel one game; the remaining two were adapted into Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. The two games, released simultaneously, interact via a Game Link Cable and a password system.
In Seasons, the Triforce transports Link to the land of Holodrum, where he witnesses the kidnapping of Din, the Oracle of Seasons, by Onox. In Ages, the Triforce transports Link to Labrynna, where Nayru is kidnapped by Veran. The main plot is revealed once the player completes both games. The player controls Link from an overhead perspective, using basic controls copied from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the Game Boy. Link is armed with a sword and shield as well as a variety of secondary weapons and items for battling enemies and solving puzzles. The central items of the games are the Rod of Seasons, which manipulates the seasons of Holodrum, and the Harp of Ages, which allows Link to travel through time in Labrynna. Link gathers the eight Essences of Nature and the eight Essences of Time, hidden in dungeons and guarded by bosses, to obtain the power to penetrate Onox's castle and Veran's tower.

Oracle of Seasons
Seasons begins as the Triforce calls out to Link from within Hyrule Castle. Link approaches it, and is transported to a dark forest where he encounters a traveling group led by a dancer named Din. After Din welcomes Link to Holodrum, the sky becomes covered in black clouds. A voice from the clouds calls Din the Oracle of Seasons and refers to himself as Onox, General of Darkness. A funnel cloud drops from the sky, taking Din into its dark heights. As the tornado dissipates, the seasons of Holodrum fall into disarray and change rapidly.
Din's attendant, Impa, tells Link that they were headed for Hyrule; she instructs him to see the Maku Tree in Horon Village, the capital of Holodrum. Link finds a sword in a cave and makes his way to the tree. The Maku Tree tells Link he will need the eight Essences of Nature and gives him the Gnarled Key, which unlocks the dungeon holding the first Essence. Link retrieves the eight Essences, hidden in eight dungeons throughout Holodrum and Subrosia, and brings them to the Maku Tree. The Maku Tree uses them to create a Huge Maku Seed, a sacred seed that cleanses evil, which allows Link to enter Onox's castle. Link enters the castle and defeats Onox. He rescues Din, who tells him that he is now a true hero and must face a new trial soon. Twinrova, watching the scene remotely, states that the Flame of Destruction has been powered by the havoc Onox has wrought.
Oracle of Ages
As with Seasons, the Triforce calls out to Link. Link is transported to a forest in the land of Labrynna, where he hears screaming. In a clearing, Link finds a woman encircled by monsters. When the monsters see Link, they scatter in all directions. The woman is Princess Zelda's nurse, Impa, who asks Link to help her find a singer in the forest. Continuing through the forest, the two find Nayru, a young woman with blue hair singing on a tree stump, surrounded by forest creatures. A shadow emerges from Impa and reveals itself as Veran, Sorceress of Shadows. Veran...(and so on)

Some twist ties. Note users can get creative with uses for twist ties... to hold AV wires in a more organized way, for example.
A twist tie is a metal wire encased in a thin strip of paper or plastic used to tie the openings of bags such as garbage bags or bread bags. They are often included with boxes of sandwich baggies or trash bags, and are commonly available individually in pre-cut lengths, on large spools, or in perforated sheets called gangs.
The outer covering can be in a variety of colors with or without printing. Plain paper, metallic paper, plastic, and poly coatings are popular for different applications. The plastic, poly, or metallic paper twist ties withstand water better than the uncoated paper versions. Water-resistant twist ties are sometimes used to package lettuce and other vegetables, although hook and loop closures are beginning to replace it. Different sizes and strengths are used for different applications, from a small closure for a bag of bread to a large, heavy tie to hold unwieldy garden hoses in place. A twist tie with a broad paper covering may also be used for labeling purposes.
A non-twisting plastic fastener similar to a cable tie may also be called a twist tie, although this is technically incorrect.
Twist ties, particularly metallic colors, are occasionally used to decorate packages.

WrestleMania X8 was the eighteenth annual WrestleMania professional wrestling pay-per-view produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). It took place on March 17, 2002 at the SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario. The event marked the final WrestleMania event under the WWF name. The event was the second WrestleMania to take place in the Toronto metropolitan area (following WrestleMania VI). The record-breaking attendance for the SkyDome of 68,237 resulted in gross receipts of approximately $6.1 million CAD ($3.9 million USD). WrestleMania weekend also included WWF Fan Axxess at the Canadian National Exhibition's Automotive Building.
The main event was between Chris Jericho and Triple H for the WWF Undisputed Championship, which Triple H won after a Pedigree. The main matches on the undercard featured The Rock versus Hollywood Hulk Hogan in a match dubbed "Icon vs. Icon", Steve Austin versus Scott Hall, and Ric Flair versus The Undertaker in a No Disqualification match.

Background

Chris Jericho, the defending Undisputed Champion coming into WrestleMania.
The main feud leading into WrestleMania X8 involved Triple H against the Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho and Stephanie McMahon. Triple H earned his opportunity to compete for the Undisputed Championship at WrestleMania by winning the 2002 Royal Rumble match, last eliminating Kurt Angle. The following night on Raw, Triple H interrupted Jericho and warned to prove him that he's worthy enough to be in the main event. Meanwhile, some hostility between Triple H and his wife Stephanie was starting to show, with the face Triple H tired of Stephanie's heel characteristics. In order to recover their relationship, Stephanie suggested on Raw that the two should renew their wedding vows on the following week. At first Triple H refused, but Stephanie revealed that she was pregnant, making him change his mind. To further prove it, the two met a doctor on the next episode of SmackDown! with ultrasound images. On the February 11 episode of Raw just before the wedding, Triple H was met with a phone call by his mother-in-law Linda McMahon, who had sent him a video tape revealing that the doctor was in fact an actor and that Stephanie was not pregnant. At the wedding, Triple H turned on Stephanie and attacked her along with her father Vince McMahon, announcing that their marriage was now over. During these weeks, Kurt Angle was given a match with Triple H's WrestleMania title shot on the line at No Way Out. In revenge for the ruined wedding, Vince granted Stephanie the chance to be the special guest referee for the match. At No Way Out with clear bias from Stephanie, Kurt Angle defeated Triple H for the title shot. The following night on Raw, WWF co-owner Ric Flair granted Triple H a rematch with Stephanie barred from the ring, enabling him to regain his title shot at Chris Jericho. On the February 21 episode of SmackDown!, Jericho met with Stephanie and put their differences in the past, ending with Stephanie accepting Jericho's proposal to be his new business partner. To further the feud, Jericho later speculated that he ended the marriage by causing Triple H's quadriceps muscle to (legitimately) tear in 2001, thus diverting Triple H's attention to his wife. In the divorce settlement for the two, it was announced that the assets would be split between them "fifty-fifty" to Stephanie's disgust. Among the assets were Triple H's first wrestling robe, Stephanie's Corvette (which Triple H later gave to her with half of it cut off) and Triple H's bulldog Lucy. Stephanie managed to win Lucy in the settlement and later on the March 11 episode of Raw sent Jericho to walk the dog. Unpleased about this, Jericho tied Lucy to a limousine and ordered the unknowing driver to buy some air fresheners, running Lucy over into a critical condition by accident. Wanting retribution, Triple H stormed into the arena and tried to attack Stephanie but was met with some chair shots to his recovered leg by Jericho. On the following episode of SmackDown!, Stephanie noted that the chair shots had left Triple H's quad in a condition that one false move in his WrestleMania match could reinjure his quadriceps once again. At the end of the show, Triple H and Jericho had a brawl in the ring that almost ended with a...(and so on)

Wine grapes.
Look up enology inWiktionary, the free dictionary.
Winemaking, or vinification, is the production of wine, starting with selection of the grapes or other produce and ending with bottling the finished wine. Although most wine is made from grapes, it may also be made from other fruit or non-toxic plant material. Mead is a wine that is made with honey being the primary ingredient after water.
Winemaking can be divided into two general categories: still wine production (without carbonation) and sparkling wine production (with carbonation).
The science of wine and winemaking is known as oenology (in American English, enology).

Process

Anatomy of a grape, showing the components extracted from each pressing.
After the harvest, the grapes are crushed and allowed to ferment. Red wine is made from the must (pulp) of red or black grapes that undergo fermentation together with the grape skins, while white wine is usually made by fermenting juice pressed from white grapes, but can also be made from must extracted from red grapes with minimal contact with the grapes' skins. Ros wines are made from red grapes where the juice is allowed to stay in contact with the dark skins long enough to pick up a pinkish color, but little of the tannins contained in the skins.
During this primary fermentation, which often takes between one and two weeks, yeast converts most of the sugars in the grape juice into ethanol (alcohol). After the primary fermentation, the liquid is transferred to vessels for the secondary fermentation. Here, the remaining sugars are slowly converted into alcohol and the wine becomes clear. Wine is then allowed to age in oak barrels before bottling, which add extra aromas to the wine, while others are bottled directly. The time from harvest to drinking can vary from a few months for Beaujolais nouveau wines to over twenty years for top wines. However, only about 10% of all red and 5% of white wine will taste better after five years than it will after just one year. Depending on the quality of grape and the target wine style, some of these steps may be combined or omitted to achieve the particular goals of the winemaker. Many wines of comparable quality are produced using similar but distinctly different approaches to their production; quality is dictated by the attributes of the starting material and not necessarily the steps taken during vinification..
Variations on the above procedure exist. With sparkling wines such as Champagne, an additional fermentation takes place inside the bottle, trapping carbon dioxide and creating the characteristic bubbles. Sweet wines are made by ensuring that some residual sugar remains after fermentation is completed. This can be done by harvesting late (late harvest wine), freezing the grapes to concentrate the sugar (ice wine), or adding a substance to kill the remaining yeast before fermentation is completed; for example, high proof brandy is added when making port wine. In other cases the winemaker may choose to hold back some of the sweet grape juice and add it to the wine after the fermentation is done, a technique known as ssreserve.
The process produces wastewater, pomace, and lees that require collection, treatment, and disposal or beneficial use.
The grapes

Harvested Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
The quality of the grapes determines the quality of the wine more than any other factor. Grape quality is affected by variety as well as weather during the growing season, soil minerals and acidity, time of harvest, and pruning method. The combination of these effects is often referred to as the grape's terroir.
Grapes are usually harvested from the vineyard in the autumn (fall), in the northern hemisphere from early September until the beginning of November, or the middle of February until the beginning of March in the southern hemisphere.
The most common species of wine grape is Vitis vinifera, which includes nearly all varieties of European origin.
Harvesting and destemming
Main article: Harvest (wine)
Harvest is the picking of the grapes and in many ways the first step in wine production. Grapes are either harvested mechanically or by hand. The decision to harvest grapes is typically made by the winemaker and informed by the level of sugar (called rix), acid (TA or Titratable Acidity as expressed by tartaric acid equivalents)...(and so on)
